Save Our Black Taxis is a charitable organisation that originated as a Facebook Group in May 2015 when frustrated by the woeful lack of reguation by Transport for London (TFL), cabby's wife Artemis Mercer felt she needed a way to voice her concerns among other taxi families. The Facebook Group has grown to almost 14,000 members and the Twitter account @SaveTaxi has over 4,000 followers. The SaveTaxi aim is threefold and acts as a pressure group, charity and union for taxi families. Ten dedicated women implement various projects such as organising demonstrations, taxi promotion, charitiable causes and fundraising. Our ethos is to unify the taxi trade through the families whilst placing pressure on legislators in order to get Transport for London to regulate their very own laws.
